National Institute of  Oceanography and Fisheries (NIOF)

       The NIOF is one of the twelve national research institutions which are affiliated directly to the Minister of High Education and State for Scientific Research. Although it is nearly the first to carry out marine activities, yet it comes the second after the National Research Center from the number of research staff point of view.

The goals of the NIOF were designated in the Presidential decree No. 436 of year 1983 as follows: To maintain, protect and promote the different water bodies and their natural resources. Also to increases fish stock.

NIOF strategy is to be specific scientific research plan, which aims to cover food production, environment and pollution control and coastal protection, and in collaboration with researchers around the world, to carry out the most advanced studies in the field of applied Marine Life and Environment
